Advancing towards Net - Zero
Advancing Net Zero is WorldGBC’s global project which aims to promote and support the acceleration of net zero carbon buildings to 100% by 2050.
To avoid the potentially catastrophic effects of climate change and limit global warming to less than 1.5 degrees, global greenhouse gas emissions need to peak by 2030.
According to the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC), buildings currently account for 39% of energy-related carbon emissions globally―with operational carbon emissions accounting for 28% while embodied carbon emissions account for the remaining 11%. Urgent and immediate action to decarbonise the built environment is therefore critical.
- Assess your risk & impact: Assess your climate risks, opportunities and climate impact.
- Set a target: Set a Net Zero target, aligned with science.
- Plan for the transition: Plan for the transition via a strategic roadmap, addressing risk and reduction.
Is it possible to achieve net-zero emissions?
CLAIM
